South Texas December 2018
Tuesday December 18 – Saturday December 22, 2018
This trip will depart from the Houston, TX area on the morning of December 18 when we will head for our first stop in the Port Aransas area where we will look for Whooping Cranes and other interesting birds. From there our next stop will be the Lower Rio Grande Valley where we will spend the next few days exploring and photographing the many species of birds that are found nowhere else in the US.
Some of the highlight species we hope to photograph include Green Jay, Altamira Oriole, Plain Chachalaca, Long-billed Thrasher, Olive Sparrow, Audubon’s Oriole, Buff-bellied Hummingbird, Common Pauraque, Least Grebe, White-tipped Dove, Couch’s Kingbird, Northern-beardless Tyrannulet, Great Kiskadee, Ringed Kingfisher, Green Kingfisher and many others.
The cost of the trip is $900 per person for double occupancy or $1029 for a private room. This cost includes all transportation starting Tuesday morning in Stafford, TX and ending Saturday night in Stafford, TX. It also includes all guide fees, park entrance fees and lodging. Guests will be responsible for their meals during the trip and transportation to and from Stafford, TX.
This trip will not be strenuous though there will be walking on flat, well maintained trails at a slow pace. Weather conditions are typically mild in December though it is possible for weather to get to or near freezing. This trip is focused on photography and though we spend much of our efforts on birds we always welcome any interesting photographic opportunities. This trip is appropriate to photographers and birders of all skill levels.
