Texas Target Birds is me, Greg Lavaty.  I have been interested in nature all of my life and as soon as digital SLR cameras reached an affordable level with the Canon D30, back in November of 2000 I picked one up and have been busy making images ever since.  Over the years I have used more models of cameras and lenses than I can count and traveled to every state in the US and to over 20 countries in pursuit of making images that I find beautiful. 

I am always trying to learn more about photography and nature and love to share my knowledge with others.  It is for this reason that I decided to launch Texas Target Birds back in 2010.  I believe that my experience and enthusiasm is a benefit to others who are interested in nature and or photography.  It is my sincere desire to help you to get the most enjoyment possible from your interest in these areas. 

With Texas Target Birds I offer both guiding services and photography instruction.  My customers range from those wanting to do a day of birding around the Houston area to get familiar with some of the local birding hotspots to serious photographers who want to get photos of a few select target species to people who want to do a comprehensive birding trip around Texas.  I also offer a variety of organized group photography trips to various locations around the US and in some of the most exciting birding locations in the world.  Whatever your birding and photography needs are I can put something together for you.

My basic day rate is $250/day for the first person and an additional $50/person for each additional person.

If you wish to use my car the fee is $50/day

For outings where I am not able to stay at home my fee is the basic fee plus expenses (for lodging, means and transportation)

For half-day trips (up to four hours) I ask $150.

For the best experience consider doing a custom private trip.  This way you can have things designed exactly for you or you and your group of personal friends.  I have made custom trips to US locations such as SE Arizona, New England for spring songbirds and puffins, Minnesota for spring songbirds; Florida and Colorado as well as all over Texas.  I have also put together private custom trips to the Pantanal of Brazil, Peru, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Mexico.  If any of that sounds interesting please don't hesitate to ask.
