Puerto Rico Bird Photography

Sunday May 12 – Saturday May 18, 2024

Puerto Rican Tody
Puerto Rican Woodpecker

This trip offers opportunities to photograph some of the beautiful and unique species found in Puerto Rico.  We will be based in the southwest part of the island making day trips focusing on obtaining good photos of species like Puerto Rican Tody, Adelades Warbler, Puerto Rican Lizard Cuckoo, Puerto Rican Woodpecker, Elfin Woods Warbler, Puerto Rican Owl and many others.  This is not intended to be an exhaustive birding trip focused on seeing the maximum number of species.  We will certainly make our best effort to photograph any species participants are interested in but want to try to maximize our time with good light on getting photos of the birds at their best.  The bulk of the trip will be spent at a single hotel with the final night at near the airport.

The trip will be limited to three photographers plus Greg Lavaty in hopes of giving everyone a pleasant photography experience.  The cost of the trip is $2275 per person for a shared room and an additional $310 for a private room.  This includes all lodging, ground transportation on the island, entrance fees and guiding.  Not included is meals, airfare and any personal expenses.
